How to Prepare for a Visit to a Pumpkin Patch This Fall

Posted on 15 November 2022

It's that time of year again. The air is turning crisp and cool, leaves are changing color, and you know it's pumpkin patch time. The season involves spending a lot of time with family, and picking out pumpkins is one of the most exciting Fall activities you can do with your family. Thus, here are a few tips to help you prepare for a wide range of fun activities as you visit a pumpkin patch this Fall.

1. Find the Right Pumpkin Patch

With the variety of pumpkin patches around you, research the activities available, food options, admission and parking fees, and hours of operation. Some pumpkin patches have family-based activities that suit kids, while others appeal to an older crowd.

2. Pick the Right Time to Go

One of the greatest concerns of pumpkin patches is the number of people and the size of the crowd. Picking the right time to go is crucial. If you have toddlers, they'll want to explore; therefore, it's beneficial to go when there are fewer people, like during the first week and on during the week. Weekends tend to be crowded and very busy.

3. Dress Appropriately and Apply Sunscreen

Farms have different activities, including climbing hay bales, pony rides, zip lines, and corn mazes. Dressing in jeans, long-sleeved shirts, and closed-toe shoes helps prevent scrapes and cuts while at a pumpkin patch. Applying sunscreen and dressing in sun-protective clothing is especially important to protect your skin from sunburns and inflammation.

4. Pack Plenty of Water and Light Snacks

Fall festivals offer food and beverages, but some may not provide refreshments. Carry plenty of water to ensure your family stays hydrated and snacks to keep hunger at bay, especially with active kids.
